March 4 to 12 an international tennis tournament in men and women singles and doubles will be held at the metropolitan Multisport Sports Complex.
The prize fund of the competition is 1 800 000 rubles.
Moscow Winter Championships are traditional events in the world of professional tennis. The Open Winter Tennis Cup “Winter Moscow Open 2023” will be held with the support of the Moscow City Sports Department and the Moscow Tennis Federation.
This year Moscow sport celebrates its 100th anniversary.
The Winter Championships has been held since 1937 and is one of the oldest tournaments in Russia. It gave a path to professional tennis to many now widely known players. Among those who won in it is the Champion of Wimbledon 2022 Elena Rybakina, in 2019 she made a "golden double" at the Winter Moscow Open, winning both in singles and doubles (together with Sofia Lancere); in 2020, Kamila Rakhimova, a native of Yekaterinburg, who later became the 90th racket of the world and who has two WTA doubles titles in her record, excelled in doubles on the courts of Multisport and became a finalist in singles.
The best juniors of Russia and Belarus will participate in the tournament. Winter Moscow Open gives young players an opportunity to improve their professional level and gain invaluable gaming experience at home, on the courts of Moscow.
The matches of the tournament will be shown live and streamed on the national sports channel MATCH TV.
The doubles finals will be held on Saturday, March 11, and the next day the decisive singles matches will take place. At the end of the final games there will be a solemn Awards Ceremony.
